The Sopwith Camel, a biplane fighter from the First World War, was a British aircraft with a wooden structure. The Camel's nickname is owed to the "hump" in front of the pilot's cabin, which housed the machine guns. This aircraft was the successor to the successful Sopwith Pup fighter, with the prototype's first flight taking place in December 1916 and deliveries to the front units beginning in the summer of 1917.

The initial Camel models presented a challenge for pilots, as they exhibited asymmetry in their flight characteristics, an uncommon trait among Allied machines. However, over time, the Camel gained a reputation among pilots as a highly maneuverable and sturdy aircraft with a decent rate of climb, making it a worthy rival to the German Albatros and Fokker machines.

Throughout the course of the war, several variants of the Camel were developed, including the F.1 fighter, the F.1.3 night fighter, the TF1 trench fighter, and the 2F.1 deck fighter. The widespread adoption of the Camel was facilitated by the commencement of serial production at eight different aviation factories, allowing for the production of as many as 5,490 machines during the war.

The Camel's technical specifications include a top speed of 185 km/h, a climb speed of 5.5 m/s, and a maximum ceiling of 6,400 m. Its armament consisted of two 7.7mm Vickers machine guns, which fired through the propeller. In the assault version, the Camel was equipped with 7.7mm Lewis machine guns.

The Sopwith Camel F.1, a 1/32 scale plastic model kit, is available from Academy Military. This kit, with the product number 12109, is packaged in a new, unopened box.
